Who are we?
The UNT Student Investment Group (SIG) is a student-operated investment management organization that was founded in 2002 through a donation from Colonel Guy M. Cloud, Jr. Today, SIG manages over $700,000 in assets spread between three different portfolios.
Our Goal
We seek to provide students with the opportunity to learn and apply career-oriented knowledge based on analytical asset valuation, portfolio management, and group collaboration.
At the same time, we aim to develop elite financial professionals with career-relevant skills who will hold a competitive advantage in the job market, and are marketable and attractive to the top financial firms around the world.

General Meetings
Every Thursday from 5-6 p.m. we hold a meeting in room BLB 050 for all to attend. At those meetings we will either have a guest - such as a professor or a representative from a reputable financial firm in the area, speak about relevant career-focused skills - such as networking, resume and cover letter writing, etc., or our analysts will be making a pitch to buy/sell a position.
Equity Research Program
This is where the fun happens. At the beginning of each semester students apply for the Analyst Program, and those selected after the interview process get to be analysts for the semester. As analysts, they will be responsible for conducting equity research, financial analysis, and finding the intrinsic value of stocks they think could be undervalued. Ultimately, they will pitch a buy/sell recommendation to the other members, who will vote at a general meeting.
Portfolio Management Committee
The Portfolio Management Committee (PMC) is comprised of four portfolio managers who are in charge of selecting companies to analyze, reevaluate, and making sure their team of analysts is successful. The PMC is for the analysts who are passionate, ambitious, and talented, and want more leadership and responsibility.
Junior Analyst Program
The Junior Analyst Group is for those who are passionate about the markets but aren't quite ready for the Analyst Program and are not offered a position, or don't have a schedule that would allow them to give the time that the Analyst Program requires. Members of the Junior Analyst Group will spend the semester reevaluating companies we hold while learning critical skills needed to succeed in the Analyst Program, in a much more casual and relaxed setting.
